Bernhard Amann commented on BIT-1047:
-------------------------------------

Would it perhaps be possible to only delete files that were present in the original
Bro installation at some point of time?

I know people are not supposed to put stuff into base - but I am kind
of afraid that some people still do and that we could potentially delete
things they do not want to have deleted.

Perhaps we could check if there is stuff present in the directory besides the stuff
that is being installed at the moment and warn?

> People keep having problems when they install a new Bro version
> over the installation of an old one because scripts that have disappeared in the new version will keep sticking around from the previous installation.
> We should simply remove the old scripts/base and scripts/policy before installing anything new. People aren't supposed to edit in there so that should be safe.
