I didn't discuss this in lecture, but specs are often written with language
indicating which elements are strictly required; required as a minimum;
prohibited; or such.  Allowing for '-', if documented as an extension,
strikes me as reasonable (where the spec describing hostnames is of the
"required as a minimum form").  I don't see how this would complicate
testing of the implementation.  That said, Daniel should have the final
word on whether such an addition will mess things up, as he's the one who
has to correctly automate the grading of all 75+ projects.
