No it would not. It would require you to recompile
if you would like to change the behaviour of xorp.
In this case it would mean that if by default xorp
does not show all interfaces and you wanted it to
you would have to recompile xorp. Now if you would
like to go back and not show all interfaces you
would need to recompile xorp again.
People often have a preference and so would most
oftenly not need to recompile.
One thing which we should keep in mind though is
that unices with binary distribution will not
allow people such freedom, but perhaps this can be
sacrificed as "powerusers" often choose source
tarballs anyway.
