I'm all for fixing the warnings, but the netlink related alignment errors on Linux
cannot be fixed in a useful manner as far as I can tell because the errors are in the
standard linux include headers.

The Arp code is used for VRRP, which is just barely functional in 1.7
anyway, so I think even if the warnings are critical, it won't be a big
problem for most users.

We can continue to try to remove as many warnings as possible in the 1.8
release cycle (I have some fixes queued up in xorp.ct waiting...)

Agreed.  I'd just like to make the decision before 1.7 is released
so that anyone packaging xorp doesn't have to deal with boost if they
don't have to.
