[Xorp-users] Upstream MRIB nexthop (RP) UNKNOWN

Pavlin,

I did several tests and found out that the MIB nexthop UNKNOWN problem
happens when a group already has a listener before XORP has the RP for
the group. Before XORP has the RP, it complained that there is no RP
for the group, and after XORP has the RP through the bootstrap, the
MRIB nexthop (R) stays to UNKNOWN.

In another test, I deleted the route toward the RP (10.10.1.0/24) and
check the PIM Join state.
An excerpt of the join state is as below.
So I guess that the MRIB nexthop (R) is not recomputed after the MRIB changed.

Another question:
TCP connections between XORP processes on my router are mostly using
the IP address of a physical interface, not the loopback address
Is this correct? Is there any reason not to use loopback address for XORP IPC?
I intentionally shut down the interface for XORP IPCs and XORP throwed
many complaints.

thanks,
