Yes, in case of XORP yu must have Hoerdt's IPv6 multicast patches in
your kernel. They are already in the USAGI tree so you may want to
install one of their recent snapshots.

I believe in case of MRD6 the multicast forwarding is performed in
user-space hence it doesn't need the IPv6 multicast patches.
