I think I have seen this error, and in my case the problem was that
IPv6 wasn't enabled.
Hence, could you confirm that you have IPv6 enabled on your system.
E.g., in your /etc/rc.conf you should have:
ipv6_enable="YES"
I believe IPv6 is not enabled by default on FreeBSD.
