[Xorp-users] Xorp - interface not plugged in problems...

Daer All,

I've just built a new five interface
Xorp box based on the CVS code I downloaded a few days ago.

The OS is a new clean install of Fedora core 4, patched
with yum to be up to date etc.

I have configured five interfaces and I have configured
the appropriate bits, IGMP, PIM-SM etc for it to act as a multicast router.

When I tried to start rtrmgr, it refuses to finish
to start and exits with messages
if any one of the interfaces
on the box is not plugged in to a live network
port at the time I start it.

Is this behaviour intended??

Surely one would want it to bring up the interfaces
that were plugged in at the time and then bring up the extra
interface later when it too got plugged in. Completely
dying just because one interface is not plugged in
seems a bit wrong.

Have I missed some option to tell it to carry on regardless perhaps??

If I make sure that the config only mentions interfaces
which are plugged in to live switch ports then all starts fine.

Thanks Folks,

Dave Price
