[Xorp-users] XORP and multicast promiscuous mode

I believe that XORP (and all other multicast (pim, igmp, ...) routers) uses
multicast promiscuous mode to capture all multicast packets.
Means they catch all ethernet frames with multicast bit set to 1.
Am I right?
Also, what about LANs not using shared media to forward frames.
