[Xorp-users] Xorp and ospf memory usage?

Hello

My colleagues have done some testing with xorp 1.3 in x86, linux 2.6 kernel
with some router testing equipment (don't know what kind of tester it is, but
commercial one). Testing equipment sends 500 routes to xorp.

When xorp is started (and no routes are sent yet) xorp's total memory
consumption is around 20-30 Mb and after 500 routes through ospf memory
consumption is about 60-70 Mb.

This 60-70 Mb sounds quite much, comparing to the study made in september 06:
http://lib.tkk.fi/Dipl/2006/urn007510.pdf

In that study, quagga, nexthop gated, ipinfusion zebos and Nokia ipsrd consume
less that 20 Mb with 10 000 routes running in linux (pages 48-49).

So, my question is, how much xorp should consume memory when processing those
500 routes in x86 linux, 2.6 kernel?

Best Regards
Kimmo Koivisto
