I haven't done exhaustive testing, but so far Intel pci-e 10G NICs are 
the most stable and the
best performers in my testing (on Linux).  I get dual-port NICs with 
these chipsets from
silicom-usa.com, btw.  I'm not sure if there are any improvements by 
getting Intel branded
NICs, but it's possible.
