Can you post logs of what happens when you try to do this?

Your configuration file looks OK, and having more than one address on an 
interface is perfectly OK by XORP, but I'm not sure I understand much 
about the network topology involved, or what XORP's actual failure mode 
is from your explanation, so if you could clarify further, it would be 
easier to help you.
