Do you know what change in particular is causing trouble?

If your current solution is stable, then I wouldn't go adding
patches.  Most of my patches cover race conditions around adding/deleting
interfaces and such.  If you have such an environment...xorp.ct should
be noticeably better.  But, for a well-behaved static environment,
xorp 1.6 is probably fine.
