 I was curious so I took a stab at this.  What I have in my `topic/jsiwek
 /64bit-val-fix` branch seems to at least fix the test case as presented in
 this ticket (count values), but it could use more testing/review (I'm not
 confident that I didn't overlook a whole bunch of stuff).
