 Sorry, I was investigating how to remove the rotation_control and ran into
 some trickiness with how WriterInfo's only know about the path after it's
 been altered by the new default_path_func so that it became harder to go
 back and look up the corresponding Filter for it's rotation information.
 I might have something that works later today, but if I get stuck for too
 long, I'll let you know and we can revisit it later.
