 Anohter good find! Merging, but two thoughts/questions:

 - can't this potentially generate a lot of reporter messages when there
 are a large number of writes going to the second one?

 - what would you think about "auto-renaming": if we detect a writer/path
 combination to be already taken, we rename the path to something unique
 ("http-2") and then proceed as normal?
