Sorry for the long reply times. Not having Bro automatically added to the path actually was a conscious decision due to several reasons.
First -- if users install the packages for bro-nightly and bro simultaneously, it is unclear which one would end up in the path (they are designed in a way that the packages can be installed simultaneously). Furthermore, it often only is desired to have the bro binaries accessible by the user that actually runs Bro --- some of the binaries contained in the distribution (like broctl) are also only runnable as root.
If you think there is a reason to add it, please let me know - I am going to close this for now :)
