I mainly meant that you probably want to remove the commented-out
sections rather than merging in my ifdefs.  But I also think the 'friend
TCP_Connection' thing is a kind of a hack.  Someone more familiar with
the code could probably restructure it so that it's not necessary to get
a pointer to a protected parent class method.
