[Zeek] Zeek Script Checking

For a new organization using Zeek is there a good system/methodology to
test new scripts before putting them into production? Best practices that
should be followed to avoid large performance hits?

I'm curious what different organizations do besides the obvious of just
deploying in a test environment and identifying any performance issues that
way.
