Indeed, I am :)

Well, as I've mentioned in my previous mail, xorp
is independant from the operating system it's run
on. Generally I don't think you can make any
realtime guarantees when system becomes as
complex as XORP and it's underlying operating
system. On top of that, there are some issues with
the speed of XORP right now. Using XORP for
"regular" routing it can be very slow compared to
other routing suites, such as Quagga. Though this
is something I am certain will be resolved in the
not so distant future.
Take notice that the speed of XORP merely affects
routing changes, ie topology changes. Any
forwarding of packets are handled by the
underlying operating systems and it would thus be
up to it to provide realtime support.
There are some "realtime" patches for Linux which
you could check out.

I am not very educated on the finer workings of FC
or iSCSI and therefore cannot judge how advanced
any routing protocols for it would be. What I do
know is that XORP provides a vial option for
developing new protocols. It's framework let you
save quite some development time although it is
aimed at more regular ip routing protocols such
as OSPF and BGP.

   Kristian
